Custom Ruger Over/Under Shotgun Engraved and Gold Inlaid by Master Engraver Bryson J. Gwinnell
Serial# 410-13762, 12 gauge (3" chambers). 28" ported vent rib barrels with interchangeable Briley chokes. The walnut stocks are made from exhibition grade walnut with beautiful flame grain and have an adjustable comb and a 14 3/8" length of pull over a thin leather covered pad. The stocks have point pattern checkering, a carved buffalo horn grip cap, an oval gold nameplate, and on the bottom of the forend is an inlaid 3/8" diameter gold Ruger emblem. The gun has a stainless steel frame with a selective single trigger and ejectors. The frame is engraved with fine scrollwork, leaf patterns, rosettes, and fan patterns. It has six hunting vignettes with a total of nine engraved gold relief game birds, animals, and hunting dogs. The engraving of these animals is magnificent and must be studied under a magnifying glass to appreciate every detail of the animal's musculature, fur and feathers. The vignettes on the chambers are also gold bordered with gold inlaid scrollwork on either side, the muzzles have gold borders with fan pattern engraving, and the bottom of the frame has a single gold inlaid falling feather. The gun is signed by the engraver Bryson J. Gwinnell and it looks as new except for two small blemishes on the stock. Bryson Gwinnell began his career as an apprentice engraver at Smith & Wesson, and later was a Master Engraver in the Colt Custom Shop for ten years. He then worked as a sculptor/engraver for the U.S. Mint in Philadelphia before starting to do his free-lance engraving on firearms. At this date we do not know if he is accepting any further commissions for engraving. This magnificent Ruger was a labor of love for our consignor who supervised all of the details of its construction and decoration, visiting the Ruger factory several times and the engraver many times over a period of several years. The gun has been fitted with a Briley three-gauge tube set in 20 ga, 28 ga, and .410 bore. This is the "Ultimate Ultralite Revolution System" with match weight, match balance, straight rifled tubes with long forcing cones and four screw-in chokes per gauge. In addition to these, a total of nine 12 gauge screw-in chokes are included, as well as all choke installation and removal tools. These tube sets and chokes are in excellent condition showing very little use with the tube sets covered by Briley's transferable lifetime limited warranty. The gun and tube sets are contained in a Briley all metal trunk style, heavy duty case in excellent condition. This masterpiece is more than a shotgun, it is a true work of art that will make a wonderful investment.
