Winchester Model 1894 Special Order Lever Action Rifle

Serial# 643827, .38-55 caliber. 26" round barrel, mostly bright bore with a few specks of pitting. Manufactured 1912. This rifle retains approximately 80% fading barrel and tube blue. This features a 3/4 magazine tube, the receiver is mostly a smooth gray with a few light scattered spots of pinprick pitting. The smooth walnut buttstock and forend were sanded long ago and now have taken on a nice aged patina. This features an open rear missing the elevator and dovetail bead blade replacement front sights. This has a crescent buttplate, the left side of the receiver has two tapped holes for a receiver sight.

Serial# 533283, .30-30 caliber. 26" octagonal barrel, very good bore, full magazine. The barrel has factory sights with a "Winchester Express" rear sight. The rifle has walnut stocks with a straight grip and a crescent buttplate. The frame, forend cap, and buttplate retain all of a nice looking reblue with the frame extension a smooth gray. The barrel retains about 50% original blue evenly blending with patina, the magazine with over 90% blue. The stocks have two small blemishes on a good looking refinish. Made in 1910.

Serial# 905714, .32-20 caliber. 24 5/16" octagonal barrel, good bore, full magazine. The barrel has factory sights with an elevator adjustable flat topped rear. The straight gripped walnut stocks have a crescent buttplate. The frame is light gray, the barrel and magazine have a thin blue/gray patina, no pitting and very good factory markings. The stocks have some added finish but have not been sanded, they show light wear, scratches and small dings. Made in 1920.

Serial# 423615, .30-06 caliber. 22" barrel, excellent bore. Manufactured 1957. This Model 70 retains approximately 97% blue. There is a small 1/2" x 1/4" patch of light rust just above the tip of the forend. The checkered walnut Monte Carlo stock with pistolgrip grades about excellent with signs of minimal use. This has a replacement folding rear and replacement dovetail bead blade front sights. Scope bases have been installed using the factory tapped holes.

.69 caliber. The barrel has been shortened to 28 3/4" and the forend has been cut at the muzzle with the front band relocated. The barrel has a drum and nipple conversion and a striker is held in the jaws of the cock. The lock has very good arsenal markings with an "1816" date. The breech has a very good "U.S." in a sunken oval, the left stock flat has a very good inspector's stamp "V/J.S. (in script)". Most of the metal is smooth with a mixed gray patina, the stock has been refinished and has good edges with relatively few scratches and dings. A proper iron ramrod is included.

Serial# 121981, .30-40 Krag caliber. 30" barrel, excellent bore. This antique retains approximately 95% barrel blue. The receiver is mostly a dark mottled gray. The stock and upper handguard grade about very good with handling marks and a small tight 1" crack below the magazine cut-off. The "1898" cartouche is legible but a bit worn. The heel has two chips, one about 1" x 1/4" deep a second at the top about 1/8" x 1/4" deep, both are old. The rear sight is an 1896 Type 1 adjusted from 700 yards to 2000 yards with the front sight being a pinned blade.

Serial# 533593, .45-70 caliber. 32 5/8" barrel, excellent bore. This 1888 retains a mostly blue/brown barrel color and a mostly mottled color on the breechblock and tang. The smooth walnut stock was refinished long ago but still retains the "1891" dated cartouche. This grades about very good. This features the correct Buffington rear and pinned blade front sights. The breechblock is dated "1884", the sideplate has a strong "U.S. SPRINGFIELD (eagle)". Both the triggerguard and sideplate are a smooth blue-gray mix.

.577 caliber with a 32 3/4" barrel and two barrel bands. This would appear to be the 1856 pattern with the barrel having three-grooves and extending 5 3/8" beyond the end of the forestock. The bayonet lug has been removed from the side of the muzzle during the period of use and all the metal has an even dark patina with light corrosion and old dried grease. The lock is marked at the center with "1863/ TOWER" and the tail has a crown. The rear sling swivel is missing. The lock and breech markings are very good, the bore is dark with distinct rifling, and the stock is sound with good edges and relatively few light handling marks. A period steel ramrod is included.
